We have to Follow European Clubs

The newly elected MMC president Sonam Gurung is a tourism entrepreneur by profession. The 39-year old is the managing director at Experience Tours and Travels. He is committed to move ahead one of the most prestigious clubs of the country in a new way. He talked with SoccerAgeNepal on his plans.

SAN: You have been entrusted with a big responsibility. How do you see it?

Gurung: It is s social job. You have to mange the best part of the club expenses. But I will try my best to maintain take the club ahead in a fresh manner.

SAN: MMC is leading the agitation against ANFA. Will there be any change in the strategy after your arrival?

Gurung: We have full support to the programs of Nepal Football Club Association. We are demanding creating a favorable environment for the clubs to sustain financially and manage the existing football structure.

SAN: What is the real demand of the clubs?

Gurung: The clubs should survive just playing football. At least the clubs should be financially enabled to pay the players in time.

SAN: What are the sources of income of MMC?

Gurung: Carlsberg is our major sponsor. We have financial support of supporters from Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manang VDC and the USA. But that is not enough to run the club.

SAN: What are your future plans?

Gurung: I will set up a system in the club. We have to follow the Europeans clubs in this regard. It's always good to follow the good things.

SAN: What is the solution to the existing football dispute?

Gurung: The problem will be solved if ANFA president Ganesh Thapa addresses the demands of the clubs.
