The second edition of the AFC President's Cup will be held in Malaysia from May 10 to 21.
Clubs from eight countries – Bhutan, Chinese Taipei, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tajikistan – will take part in the 11-day event which is meant for league champions of the AFC's 'emerging national associations'.
Countries that are grouped in this category are Palestine, Brunei, Afghanistan, East Timor, Bhutan, Laos, Tajikistan, Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Cambodia, Nepal, Chinese Taipei, Pakistan, Guam, Sri Lanka, Macau and Mongolia.
The clubs participating in the second edition are Transport United (Bhutan), Tatung (Chinese Taipei), Khemara (Cambodia), Dordoi-Dynamo (Kyrgyzstan), Pakistan Army (Pakistan), Ratnam Sports Club (Sri Lanka), FC Vakhsh (Tajikistan) and Manang Marshyangdi Club (Nepal).
Tajikistan's Regar-TadAZ defeated Kyrgyzstan's Dordoi-Dynamo to win last year's AFC President's Cup which was held in Nepal.
The champions take home a prize money of $50,000 while the runners-up receive $25,000. The AFC has provided a subsidy of $15,000 to each of the teams preparing for this tournament.
The AFC's top tier competition is the highly successful AFC Champions League followed closely by the AFC Cup.
